The first house holds your identity, your appearance and the instinct you lead with in anything new. Aries is the sign that naturally rules it, and an Aries ascendant hands the house back to that sign, so very little stands between an impulse and the door. People take you for decisive on the strength of the arrival alone, you begin things at the point where others are still weighing them, and the gap between deciding and moving is short enough to be noticed.

That describes how you arrive, not a ruling on who you are. How loudly it reads varies from chart to chart: any planet sitting inside the first house adds its own weight to the entrance, and a Sun placed low in the wheel leaves the ascendant doing more of the talking.
